The reason why I agree with women not reading the readings is that in the Tridentine Mass only men can read the epistle and gospel - the reason being that lay lectors are not allowed, and that the Holy Mother Church only allows men to be ordained to the priesthood, and deaconate. In the Low Mass the Priest reads both the Epistle and Gospel, while in the High Mass the deacon may read the Epistle (the priest still reads the Gospel).

I do, however, accept the fact that there is ultimately no difference between male lay lectors and female lectors, and that if there is no deacon to say it this position is open to both any member of the laity regardless of gender.

As for women not being allowed to be priests or elders as you mentioned in your post - well I agree with this whole heartedly, because it was Jesus who chose all men to be his apostles, who were both priests & bishops. This has nothing to do with women not being insightful or intelligent it is simply the will of god, and it is impossible for women to receive the priesthood - just as it is impossible for a man to be a nun.

Last but not least, I would like to ask you where in the bible you read "Adam was with her." Because since I haven't found this set of words in the Douay-Rheims/Vulgate I think it is nothing more than a poor protestant translation.

That said - I don't think that Adam was blameless in eating the apple, nor do I view women as the root of all evil, because while one could make the argument that Eve, being the first to sin, is the root of our fallen nature, I prefer to look to our Lady, who is the mother of god, and the most pure creature god ever created.Catholighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07278027452935241660noreply@blogger.com
